Qualifications:
Required qualifications
Current University of Toronto graduate student with:
- Familiarity with online accessibility and the AODA
- Familiarity with HTML and web content editing tools (i.e. Drupal)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong service orientation and user-centred approach
- Good initiative and capacity for self-directed learningPreferred qualifications:
- Experience or familiarity with user experience concepts, including usability and accessibility testing -
Duties:
Based in Robarts Library, Information and Technology Services Department, and reporting to the Curator of Digital Experience Librarian in Information and Technology Services, the Web Accessibility GSLA will conduct accessibility testing of existing and in-development online library services, assist content creators in AODA compliance, and support the maintenance of web accessibility guidelines and best practices.
Duties may include:
- Initial training on the accessibility audit workflow
- Supporting web content creators in the creation of accessible content
- Conducting accessibility audits on selected library services
- Analyzing and documenting audit findings
- Working with ITS staff to remediate web accessibility issues (web content editing)
- Editing web accessibility guidelines and best practices for UTL staff
- Research on automation for Web Accessibility auditing.Please note: The position will be based in Robarts Library.
Please note that during the pandemic, the University continues to monitor public health guidelines as they relate to libraries and work closely with the University’s Environmental Health and Safety Office and other campus officials. As such, hours cannot be guaranteed if public health and university health and safety guidelines limit access to libraries and buildings.
