  4. Qualifications:

    University of Toronto graduate student, iSchool student preferred.

    Required qualifications:

    • Basic understanding of the principles of open access publishing
    • Knowledge of and experience with metadata creation/editing (preferably in Dublin Core)
    • Strong computer skills including working with web-based platforms, spreadsheet tools, MS Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with faculty and staff; strong service orientation
    • Highly motivated; ability to work with minimal supervision and to take direction
    • Demonstrated ability to use judgment to interpret, analyze and adapt procedures
    • Demonstrated ability to find approaches and solutions to specific and complex problems

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Knowledge of DSpace repository platform
    • Familiarity with copyright principles in scholarly publishing
    • Experience with editorial work or publishing (e.g. in a student journal)
    • Understanding of web and document accessibility principles

  5. Duties:

    Under general supervision, the candidate will perform ongoing copyright permission analysis, accessibility remediation, and deposit materials to the TSpace repository, as well as review of submissions done by others. They will also help with creating resources for and responding to inquiries from journal editors of Library-hosted academic journals. Duties may include direct communication with faculty, students, departmental staff, and publishers. Other related duties may be assigned.

  6. Hours per Week:
    Approximately 15 hours per week.
  7. Hourly Rate:
    $28.24, $29.07
