  4. Qualifications:

    Required:
    -A current University of Toronto Graduate student, trained in statistics, mathematics, and/or computer science preferred
    -Demonstrated data analysis skills and abilities to gather, organize, analyze and present complex datasets from multiple sources
    -Advanced skills in using Microsoft Excel for data analysis
    Demonstrated interest in academic libraries and scholarly publishing
    -Highly motivated with an interest in and ability to quickly learn new technologies and software
    -Strong research and writing skills. Communication in English essential, both oral and written. Ability to communicate tactfully and clearly with library staff
    -Attention to detail and accuracy
    -Demonstrate good work performance and attendance records
    -Ability to work as part of a team

    Preferred:
    -Knowledge of programming languages, preference for Python, R, or SQL
    -Experience using APIs
    -Previous teaching and/or training experience

  5. Duties:

    Funded by a Chief Librarian’s Innovation Award, the University of Toronto Libraries seeks applications for a Graduate Student Library Assistant from approximately August 15, 2024, to March 31, 2025. This position will assist the Collections Services unit with exploring and establishing processes and technical skills needed to gather and assess open access publication data of UofT authored works and UofT publication data in general. Duties include but not limited to:
    -Identify and evaluate sources of publication data; perform data analysis to identify patterns and trends
    -Investigate and evaluate software, tools, or skills to facilitate data collection and analysis of publication data
    -Develop method(s) of publication data collection, analysis, assessment, and presentation
    -Document methods and processes; provide training to library staff on methodology

  6. Hours per Week:
    Flexible. 24 hours maximum per week
  7. Hourly Rate:
    $30.45, $31.34
