  4. Qualifications:

    The University of Toronto Libraries is seeking a creative and digitally savvy undergraduate student to fill the role of Digital Storytelling & Communications Student Library Assistant (SLA). This position involves developing engaging video content, supporting social media activities on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, and assisting with various communications-related administrative tasks.

    Qualifications:

    - University of Toronto undergraduate student

    - Excellent written and interpersonal communications skills

    - Excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail

    - Creativity and an interest in communications in a library setting with focus on social media video content and visual materials such as posters.

    - Proficiency with various social media platforms, editing programs and applications.

    - Proficiency with standard office tools such as Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

    - Interest in and ability to quickly learn new technologies.

    - Ability to work well independently once projects are assigned.

    - Preferred qualifications:

    - Strong understanding of social media platforms, particularly TikTok, X, Threads and Instagram.

    - Experience with content creation, video production, and/or graphic design is required.

    - Familiarity with design tools such as Canva and social media management platforms Hootsuite and Later is a plus.

    - Experience with video editing software such as CapCut is a plus.

    - Experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing or a related field.

    - Must display videography and video editing skills.

  5. Duties:

    Responsibilities may include:

    - Create and post content for the library’s Instagram, Threads, TikTok and X accounts with focus on short videos.

    Assist with events and promotional campaigns – occasional in-person attendance to capture events for social media.

    - Assisting with copy editing and fact checking on posts and content.

    - Uploading, labeling and organizing videos and photographs in the Libraries’ shared photo drive – and OneDrive.

    - Use Canva to design signage by adapting pre-existing templates and brand elements to fulfill urgent requests.

    - Assist communications team with administrative tasks such as printing posters, laminating, button making, and or event support.

    - Assisting with the fulfillment of promotional requests from library staff for posters, brochures and library swag.

    - Monitor the library’s stock of promotional materials and gather quotes for reordering.

    - Assist with events and campaigns including mailing invites, monitoring RSVPs, working with the graphic designer to produce name badges and day of event set up.

    - Assisting with special communications projects as needed.

    - Other related duties as assigned

    12-15 hours
  7. Hourly Rate:
    $20.06, $20.87, $21.64, $22.46
