Qualifications:
- The applicant must be a University of Toronto student. Students enrolled in a computer science or computer engineering program preferred
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills and ability to conduct research as required
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
- Experience using common operating systems (particularly UNIX-based systems) from the command line and experience with Python
- Experience with S3 or S3-compatible applications and services. Familiarity with OpenStack Swift preferred
- Demonstrated interest in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and related tools such as Chef, Terraform, Ansible, or Kubernetes
- Experience exploring large code bases for debugging purposes preferred
- Experience contributing to open-source projects on GitHub preferred -
Duties:
The Ontario Library Research Cloud (OLRC) is a cloud storage service hosted and managed by Scholars Portal for higher education and cultural heritage organizations in Ontario and across Canada. The service is built on OpenStack Swift and is integrated with various platforms, including DuraCloud, Dataverse, and Archivematica.
- Work with the OLRC and Systems teams to support ongoing projects, including software upgrades, hardware expansion, and migrations
- Assist with investigating and fixing issues in systems and tools used by or integrated with the service
- Assist with documenting procedures for routine tasks, investigations, and other related projects
- Support members of the Scholars Portal team on other projects as needed -
