  4. Qualifications:

    University of Toronto Faculty of Information or Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design graduate student. Interest in digital preservation. Familiarity with or willingness to learn digital tools and applications for preservation workflows. Demonstrated ability to do detailed work, and to complete work assignments promptly and accurately with minimal supervision. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated good work performance and attendance record.

    Desirable: Interest in art and/or architecture. Knowledge of and experience with metadata standards or digital file formats a strong asset. Knowledge of digitization practices and principles.

    We expect the candidate to be stronger in some qualifications listed above than others; we are committed to helping our future colleague expand their skills, as well as learning from their areas of strength.

  5. Duties:

    1. Support digitization of physical materials.
    Working closely with digitization specialists, digitize glass slides and other physical materials. Ensure that digital files are accurate, accessible, and preserved according to best practices. Assist in maintaining consistent workflows and quality standards to support long-term use and access.

    2. Support digital repositories and digitization workflows.
    Coordinate the workflow for ingest, description, and access that supports long-term preservation and user discovery in the library’s digital repositories. Help maintain documentation and workflows that support long-term preservation, discoverability, and access to digital collections.

    3. Digitize 3D objects using photogrammetry and 3D scanning.
    Assist with the digitization of 3D objects using photogrammetry and 3D scanning technologies. Capture images and scans, process and refine 3D models, and document workflows. Contribute to ongoing efforts to integrate 3D objects into digital collections and improve user access to these materials.

    4. Support instruction and outreach for digital collections.
    Assist in developing and delivering instructional materials, workshops, and user guides. Provide support for outreach activities that promote the use of digital collections and services.

    5. Assists in other special projects and initiatives as needed.
